Public Speaking & Professional Presentation
Course Description
Mark Twain once said: “There are two types of speakers—those that are nervous, and those that are liars.” His words are confirmed by numerous studies, one of which found that 75% of people fear public speaking more than they fear death. It even has a name—glossophobia. Although these studies might be exaggerated, the truth is that speaking in public provokes feelings of anxiety for many. And yet, being able to effectively communicate through speaking is so crucial for success.
Focusing on both content and delivery, Communications 212 offers you opportunities to develop your abilities in public speaking and professional presentation. Throughout the course, you will analyze the types and principles of the communication inherent in the business and professional setting. You will work on managing and presenting information by analyzing audience, researching, evaluating, organizing, and delivering content; crafting questions and evaluating presentations; and designing visual aids. You will present individually and in small groups, in person and online.
